One of the names for the Devil in the Bible is the
dragon. He hates God, and also hates people, who are made in the
image of God. His aim is to steal, to kill and destroy, to
accuse, to deceive and to enslave. Nasty stuff.
The cold weather project at St George's is aimed at those who are desperate. In addition to finding shelter, and a warm welcome, you will learn about the victory that Jesus Christ won over the devil, and how that victory can be shared by his followers, called and chosen and faithful.
The
provision at St George's will be basic. There will not be
hand-outs. It is a cash free zone. We will ask God to meet our
needs. There won't be much comfort. There is a tap, a basin, a
mirror, and a loo. Please bring your own sleeping bag.
No alcohol or drugs to be taken on the premises. This is a place to gain victory over addictions and problems.
We aim to be good neighbours. There will be the opportunity to join in daily local litter pick and graffiti removal.
The Christian teaching will be simple and practical, and there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions.
Above all, our aim is to love God and love one another, as Jesus instructed.
There is no need to make an appointment. Just turn up, preferably before ten p.m. so as not to disturb those of us trying to sleep. Thank you.
but it was a nice idea. Maybe elsewhere?
